It has been a long time since we wrote an entry in English, but a trip around the world doesn't give you as much time off as you could think ;-) There are so many amazing places to see and visit in every country that you could be traveling around the world forever.
We were in Costa Rica for 2 weeks and although we got some bad weather due to the influence of a tropical storm we really enjoyed our time there. We stayed in Arenal where there is an active volcano and natural hot springs coming down from the mountain. We also stayed at Manuel Antonio national park, in the Pacific Coast, with wonderful sandy beaches and lots of monkeys. In Tortuguero we saw the nesting of the huge green turtles that come to the beach to lay the eggs. In San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica, we felt very comfortable and spent a few days resting and just walking around the city.
After Costa Rica we flew to California that it is more like a country than a state. We stayed a few days in Los Angeles (chaotic city of strong contrasts) before heading north along the coast via the Highway 1 (great landscape but very foggy) to San Francisco. San Francisco is a GREAT city! We really liked it and had a great time there. It's very fun to drive in the city going up and down the very steep streets and also in the cable car.
Leaving the city we drove to the National Parks of California. Yosemite was a big surprise as well as Sequoia National Park and the Death Valley. We went from the snow and trees in Sequoia to the desert landscapes of the Death Valley in just a couple of days. We also visited the Grand Canyon in Arizona; a couple of days more to go down to the bottom of the canyon would have been good, but we had to drive back a few kilometers to Los Angeles. On the way back we stopped a few days in Las Vegas. We didn't like it very much (crazy and tacky city) but we were lucky and got free tickets for Madonna concert and won 120$ in the casino.
Now, we are in Argentina and we are really enjoying our time here. We stayed a couple of days in Buenos Aires and we are flying back there tomorrow to spend five more days. We are traveling around the Patagonia. We have been in Peninsula Valdes sailing next to the whales, walking surrounded by penguins, ice-trekking on the Perito Moreno glacier and hiking in El Chalten and in Torres del Paine park (this last one is actually in Chile). We are having a great time here, surrounded by snowed mountains, amazing glaciers and turquoise lakes.
After the next few days in Buenos Aires resting and eating great beef we plan to go to Iguazu falls. You can see photos and videos of the places we are visiting in the entries in Spanish. Have a look at them and write comments for us.
